He was home for a bit and has gone over to Fort Lewis in Tacoma. He is being stationed there, which really really rocks because it is only hours from home and he can come visit or we visit him easily!

He has been assigned to the 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division and expects to ship out to Afghanistan in 30-45 days. In the mean time, he will train more.

Today he went to his new barracks. He has his own little room and there is a common kitchen and laundry area and a bathroom. He shares with another man whom he has yet to meet.
I was gonna say, "hug him for me when you see him" but he doesn't know me. So I salute him and thank him from here.
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?

I would tell him be careful, keep a sharp look out, aim true, head down, but he knows this.

Proud of you Bear. \m/  \m/

Cool stuff t. The Megadeth info was interesting. Mustaine was
interviewed in one of my recent guitar mags and quoted that he's
hanging it up after this album. (back problems and such)

That remains to be seen, but back to Bear:

Thank you for your service to our country, my Army brother. Keep your
powder dry and watch your six. Whatever you face in your mission,
know that you are appreciated and supported by us! \m/
Don't start none...won't be none.

And he has made his choice again. He is working to end his inactive status and return to active duty with the Army. He says he is not the type to sit behind a desk. I could say that I agree. 100%!

I am...though as his mum I will be praying really hard again!

I figure that since there are only a few slots open for Special Forces it will only be by Father's will if he gets in, so, if he does it will be exactly where he is supposed to be.

sitting behind a desk sucks but it pays the bills.

Bear shared with me today that with all that is going on on the home front, he is going to hold off in order to be there for his brother (who is getting married in May), as well as button down a few more things. Bear is a good man who doesn't walk away from what is important to him. With that sort of commitment, I am proud to have him guarding our nation when the time is right.
