Scootie started her braces today
Scoot went in this am and got the first part of her braces put on.
Here is a pic of her just this past weekend, without braces yet.
Self portrait. Learning from her daddy.
These next two are her after we got home from the orthodontist today.
The flash went off right in her eyes. That's why the funny face.
This one, she looked away from the camera a bit, so the flash woundn't blind her.
She's been showing everyone. I think she likes 'em, so far.
Just the top front four to start. In about 6 weeks we go back and they'll put the rest on the top. Not sure if they'll start any of the bottoms at that time.

The thing that sucks about the "cosmetic" clause in dental insurance policies is BS. When it is necessary, they should pay at least 1/2 the fees. If it is truely cosmetic (done in vanity) then it should be up to the patient.
I wouldn't put braces on my kid, just because. They are TOO expensive to "JUST PUT ON". When it is a HEALTH issue, it shouldn't be an issue for the insurance to kick in a bit. But it has been like that for SOOOOOOOOOO long. I'm surprised nothing has changed on that. Doctors are gonna make their money one way or the other. In the dentist world, orthodontists and oral surgeons make a killing off patients, cuz insurance isn't there. BS, all the way!!!

I don't think I have ever had a dental plan that was worth a shit!! even doubled covered it seems like you end up paying for something..Orlando's LOVESLAVE wrote:The thing that sucks about the "cosmetic" clause in dental insurance policies is BS. I had to pay for my own braces out of pocket, as an adult. It was the first major purchase we did after I got my first teaching contract. The second major purchase was a house, the one we just moved out of. I used to love getting the clear rubber bands. I'd end up eating mustard sometime, and it would stain the bands so that they looked gold, and then it looked like I had silver and gold in me mouth.
Enchantment falls around me and I know I cannot leave...
