Wow, I love Allan H. I saw him in a little club in 84 or 85. He and his 3 piece band melted all of the faces there that night. I went nuts when they played Metal Fatigue. Holy!ElfDude wrote:Awwwww YEAH! For all you jazz afficianados (sp?), the Allan Holdsworth Trio! Remarkable performances from all of them.
And yes, Allan is playing a Carvin.

Was that the IOU tour? I saw that in 84. Fantastic! I had also seen him back in 82 at a little club in LA. Loved it.Big Blue Owl wrote:Wow, I love Allan H. I saw him in a little club in 84 or 85. My daughters can't take the weird jazz chords. For some reason, so much of his stuff just feels so natural to me...

I got that all wrong. The IOU tour was in 1982. When I saw him in !984 it was the Road Games tour, but he was already playing songs from Metal Fatigue which hadn't yet been released.
Do you remember when you saw him if it was Jeff Berlin or Jimmy Johnson on bass?

Neato! The Metal Fatigue tour didn't come anywhere near here.Big Blue Owl wrote:I'm thinking it must have been Johnson, as I would have made a big deal out of seeing Berlin. It must have been about 85 because I had already been a freak about Metal Fatigue by the time I saw him live. Magic times.
Thanks for reminding me, Matt.
By the time the Road Games tour came here, Berlin was no longer with him and Jimmy Johnson (the one in the video you posted) was there. At first I was disappointed. But by the end of the show, Johnson had comepltely blown me away!
