The Wicker Dude?

Post by Medinaquirin »

Yes, in case you haven't heard, Hollywood has remade the Brit classic film The Wicker Man with an American setting, and cast none other than Nicholas Cage in the lead role.

Please please please tell me I'm not the only one dry-retching at the thought of this?

All I can think of is Eddie Izzard:

"If the movie did any bit of business in Britain, Hollywood would take it and remake it and up the budget by $50 million and it would be called 'Room with a View of Hell, Staircase of Satan, Pond of Death!'"

Just...ugh!!!!! :x

I'm pissed at them for ruining War of the Worlds. I love the book and the only version that actually told the story in england was from Pendragon Pictures. I didn't care if the effects were silly, they got it on the spot.
I love Eddie Izzard. I saw him in The Mystery Men.
I love my Welshman.

I hate remakes, though some come off as okay on their own, since they
switch some things around - The Hills Have Eyes was decent.

In this instance I have not seen the original yet, but I plan on seeing that one, and have no interest in seeing the new one. Plus I'm not a Cage fan to begin with.

I like the trailers for Ghost Rider.

I'm not a big Cage fan either.

None taken, sug, as you're absolutely right. *hugs and tries to stay away from the broken foot*

I think Hollywood needs to cut it with the remakes. Although there are exceptions, The Hills Have Eyes for one, I have heard good things about that, for the most part, they just never live up to the originals.

Now, I've not seen the British version of Fever Pitch but I thought the "remake" was great! Just a fun movie, which I love.
