t, It's $250 first offense and then I think it goes to $1,000. You can imagine the anger.
There's a whole underground culture of "smoking establishments" like Speakeasies during Prohibition. They do very well.
The bar and restaurant owners are very upset. Immediately there was a 40% drop in business. So many businesses went down the toidy. No so much the upscale "Shee shee" places in Manhattan but the corner neighborhood pub in Queens or Brooklyn where guys came in after work for a beer. They died.

LMAO at your speakeasy post, Sig!!! I TOTALLY missed that! YES you had an original idea.
The thing is, well, see where your brain went with the laws they have here? So did thousands and thousands of others. When all of a sudden the Govamint steps in and passes laws on millions of people "for their own good" and then the toothpaste comes out the bottom of the tube. They're called "sumptuary laws" and they can cause more havoc than good.
Like you I respect rights of non-smokers and always have. As soon as these laws came in and 26% of the population was SUDDENLY treated like children...well...guess what? Fugg YOU is what they say. It was the same with Prohibition.
There are other ways of handling things without threat of backlash like bootlegging did during Prohibition--organized crime SOARED. Oh, yes, and the ACLU isn't in it because it is a PC law.
P.S. LONG, boring post but...to also say...It was raining buckets before and is now a steamy sun but I still worry about the people up Nawth too!
