That's true enough. For instance, if I lost my job after many years, I'd apply for unemployment to keep me going until I found something that pays similarly to the job I lost. The next person is just as likely to milk that for all it's worth and then complain when the benefits ran out.

Lazy bums ruining it for the rest.

I probably get slagged by society...well I know I do...an unemployed single mum...what people dont realise is Id love to have a job and I try by going to interviews but because of my situation and my age I find it hard..

saying that also folk can say all they want about single mums...I know my situation and I know that my kids are loved and well brought up so they can say what they want...

I don't think that there is a more important job in all of the world than yours. And the pay sucks!

No slagging. Just hugging. :-D

are you not meant to be one of the richest countries and the government cant provide free medical care?...jings Im glad i live here cuz Im that accident prone  ...also I had Caelan at the hospital just last week with a split head...Id owe thousands by now!
It is hardly free Schue, you just pay for it in other ways. Albeit the bills I have heard of in the states from doctors/ hospitals are rather exorbitant. (ridiculously it could not cost even a small fraction of that so.)

We Canadians do have private health insurance, but not private health care. The insurance covers drugs, sometimes spectacles/physio/orthotics and usually a certain amount of yearly dental fees. Anything asside from GP's and specialists/hospitalized is not under government control.

i know its not free...taxes pay for it..but all in all I need to say the NHS has saved a lot of lives...yeah of course there is a waiting list but generally not for life threatening afflictments...if I found a lump in my breast tomorrow...Id be at the hospital the next day if not the same day

we have insurance for pets...not people

It's not really about democrats verse republicans it's about putting insurance company's out of work putting a dent in our "free" system of commercialization. If there ever is a system for free medical here... it will be watered down and full of abuse, either drive all the way in or don't dive in at all.
Now for a commercial break...free sample of purple pain relief for every ounce blue bud for the bargin price of 2112 and for a bonus you'll get free 10 points toward helping defray the costs of bill 1348.

When evil is allowed to compete with good, evil has an emotional populist appeal that wins out unless good men & women stand as a vanguard against abuse.

Good one Kev, I'm hoping it gets passed. Its like why not legalize it for medical use...there's not logical argument against it...its like have cancer patients on morphine that looses effectiveness over short period of time and causes side effects such as nausea (and they already ARE nauseous!), constipation...OR give them some weed that relieves the pain, stimulates appetite, doesn't loose effectiveness or affect digestion....plus has many other medical uses....hmmmm.
We're all mad here!

I didn't see anything about the new health care debate? One payer system is the only way to go.....END OF STORY!

Any time there's a bill proposed I like to look at it with a couple of simple questions...

Does this bill raise or lower my taxes?
Does this bill help to ensure my freedom or does it take away from my freedom and give the government more control over my life?

All of the health care proposals in the the congress and senate fail this little test miserably.

Why so many Americans (though in every poll it is a minority) want to surrender more of their free agency and more of their hard-earned income to the government baffles me.
Aren't you the guy who hit me in the eye?
