What about a hi hat stand like this. Kind of like both a conventional stand, and a remote with cable. Talk about the positioning possibilities?!?!?!

Image

Info on the stand

Allows highly customized setups that suit both your hand and foot.

Gibraltar's Ultra Adjust Hi-Hat Stand takes the frustration and time out of setup by allowing the player to position the stand in a comfortable leg playing position and independently position the hi hat cymbals for best playing placement.

Setting up and positioning hardware can be a very frustrating and time-consuming task. While finding a comfortable hi-hat position for ones legs and double bass drum pedal, hi-hat cymbal playing placement is often compromised.

Featuring two gearless positioning points, Gibraltar's patented Ultra Adjust system allows up to eight inches of displacement for the upper stand section of the hi-hat. This gives the player the best of both worlds-positioning for the leg base and independent positioning for hi hat cymbals. Other 9607ML-UA features include a Liquid Drive system for balanced action, Step Tension adjustment, and a moveable leg base with 360 degrees of rotation.

Yeah, I saw that. That could be pretty awesome! You could even angle it so you could get a ride cymbal kind of action out of it. Wouldn't that make things nice? I'd be scared to look at the price tag though

I'd be scared to look at the price tag though.

It's a whopping $199.00 at Guitar Center.

I like flangers and a really rapid delay to add chunkiness for git, but
lots of drummers like effects too....like your flanger. :headbang:

see? works both ways! :P

you should try some delay on your kit mics!

(let the sound tech control it...you have enough to do! hahaha)

I guess a gate would work on someone who mainly plays straight feels or even blast beats, but if you syncopate in any way...eeeeeeeeew!!!
